MUM OF REX

Rex had the op last thursday, all went well, seems perky and bright, then and now. Eating lots, as usual. However, two evenings ago he was making strange noises, rapid fire small squeaks that built in power and volume until a large, long squeak that sounded a bit like a growl. I noticed that he was doing this every time he wanted to poo. And his poos were wet and soft, when normally they are dry looking and quite hard. Next day he stopped making these noises and seemed okay, eating lots, jumping about, etc, and now his poos are wet and shiny looking, not soft, but not as hard as they used to be, before he had the op. Is he okay? I didn't call the vet because he seems to be so well in himself, and as I mentioned the poos do seem to be getting back to more or less normal mode. Is it expected that poo changes after a neuteuring op? Any ideas, am thankful x

Is he still on baytril? The antibiotic can be rather hard on the guts and make the poos soft. You can counter the effect of baytril either by getting a probiotic or by mushing up some poos from a healthy piggy in some water and feed him that - it's giving him the good bacteria back.

Be glad that your boy has such a healthy appetite!
