Dodge has been doing really well since his op two weeks and two days ago - back to popcorning, eating as much as he ever has, even put some weight on. However tonight something has happened I am a bit worried about!

Yesterday I noticed a kind of yellowy-brown scabby bit where one of his incisions was. I poked it a bit and it seemed ok, he didn't seem in pain, so I left it.

I checked it again tonight and as I poked it it started to come off :{ so I quickly made up some salt water and thought best to give it a clean. Well when I did that it actually did come off :{ :{ and with it came a stringy thing that I assume was one of his stitches! He was getting rather upset by this time but let me then bath the whole area with salt water, there was some blood and a little mucus-like stuff but after four cotton wool balls nothing more came off.

He is now in a washing basket on a towel while I get the indoor cage ready with towels and newspapers again - don't want the bedding sticking in case it hasn't quite healed.

He seems ok and has eaten his veg and some of his dinner, he is scratching the area a bit but I assume that's because it's healing.

So, should I be worried or does this sometimes happen? There is no blood on the towel he has been on for the past hour (just loads of poo, so no probs there) so is it likely to just heal overnight?

Help :{

Thanks, I was more worried that the stitch had come out, but my vet-in-training mate has just confirmed it should have fallen out anyway so less worried now!

Presumably it should be fine but if I find any lumps/swelling, vet ASAP?
