Hi and welcome!

I am sorry that the op has not gone well.

Please have your boy seen by a vet again if you are not under regular control. Are you checking the the groin area for any signs of swelling daily?
All you can do is to continue with the syringe feeding, as he has obvioulsy not reacted well to the anaesthetics or there is a persistent pain issue from the op, and the appetite killing baytril is not helping.
You may want to think about getting fibreplex. it is not cheap, but it can help with guinea pigs persistently off their food. Otherwise, please try a pinch of probiotics 1-2 hours after the antibiotic. you can get those from a pet shop.
You can find information on those products in our syringe feeding guide.

Thank you so

Thank you so much for your reply,
I had no idea Baytril would suppress his appetite thank you for that.
I would be more than happy to pay for the more expensive one.
Will my vet have it ? Is it used in UK ? Do you know ?
He is much the same today I am going to stop Baytril as he does not have a temp or chest crackles anymore.
His wt loss is increasing and he squeaks when I pick him up
Tummy not tender and op site clean healed and not swelling or redness
Seems just to be giving up :(
I keep feeding and hope he improves soon poor little guy

Your vet may not have fibreplex in stock, but you can order it online. Until then, please give him normal probiotics and please have him seen as soon as possible.

I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed!

Ok
Well new is all good I am pleased to say
Have had him on Vetark
Pro-C probiotic and critical car for just over 24 hours
Big change this morning did not want syringe for but ate small slice cucumber and couple of spinach leaves
Also has a munch on the grass
Let's hope he keeps improving
Thank you for your support
I have discovered that Vets don't really know what to do with these guys !

Please continue with the syringe feeding and the daily weigh-in. Up to 80% of the food intake should be hay, which you simply cannot control. a tiny bit of veg is not enough even though it is a positive sign, but unless your piggy is getting enough food into his guts, the guts will slow and then close down.
Please take the time to read through our syringe feeding guide; it is very detailed with lots of tips and guides how much/how often you need to feed in which situation. It also has got tips on how to handle unwilling piggies.
