Hi everyone, I'm at increased risk from the dreaded virus, due to asthma that can get really scary if I get a mild cold, so I'm not taking any chances.

I love.alone and am self isloating, which was not difficult last week as my cupboards were full (not overfull) and the weather was nice enough to converse with good friends who are my neighbours at a safe distance.

This forum has been a life line. You helped me deal with the fact that I was too at risk myself to continue with helping my elderly neighbours and lent support when a friend died of the virus last week.

I had a major wobble on Monday, when I felt anxious and alone (probably common emotions this week). Friends and family rallied round and I arranged an extension for the urgent work I had, meaning I only need to work about half normal hours each day.

I will be in lockdown for at least 12 weeks. Luckily I have a lovely garden and lots more support than most people having worked to put it in place over the last week. But still feel isolated, so I hope to check in daily to let you know how things are going.

Glad you will be checking in with us regularly. It's scary times but you are doing the right thing for your health right now which is of the highest importance. I'm hoping that you stay virus free

I am glad that you are looking after yourself and putting your health first.

My patents are in their second week of isolation. I’m missing them like mad but it’s for the best.

We’re all here for you during this difficult time xx

Thanks. My 86 year old mum, that I worried about a lot last week and had to arrangements for from afar, may have already had the virus. She didn't have the standard symptoms but lost her as senses of taste and smell. I hope that means that I don't have to worry about her so much.

You're not on your own hun we,re all here for you,lm just into my 3rd week, had a couple of wobbles, get on here and talk with us,take care ,Angie🥰

I have changed your designation accordingly so we always know which members are most vulnerable.
It will remind us to be in daily contact and keep a closer eye on your forum presence to make sure that you are OK. ;)

Thanks for all of your supportive messages.

I'm struggling again today. I've only done about an hour's work and an urgent task has just come in and made me really anxious again. I'm going to watch the rest of a Masterchef episode I started this morning and am doing the piggies' washing, before I go back to my work.

At least the sun is shining, which always helps.

Sending you hugs, anxiety is horrible xx

Try to do regular mindfulness and meditation, as well as exercise.

The tips collection in this guide here doesn't work just for people with mental health issues but for everybody, including me to help me keep my famous patience under the most trying of circumstances and to be there for others as much as I can.

We are currently all stressed and scared and can frankly do with helping us to center and to tank strength regularly.

Thanks @Wiebke I think I might go for a walk before I try to do some more work.

Go for a walk but combine it with some 'soul massage'.
Smell the air; breathe slowly and deeply. Let the sun sink into your body. Admire any blooms; feel for fresh leaves or bark. Stand and count blooms. Look at the clouds: can you spot any patterns? Feel the breeze and let it flush your stress hormones out of your body. Take your time to enjoy your surroundings and all the little things. Take it slowly and embrace the little good things that are all around you and that you can still rediscover and treasure.

Have a little sprint or top speed walking section to get pulse going. Throw a pebble as far as you can and try to get to it on just one leg. Then do the same on the other. Be playful; hopscotch is not just for children! Build a secret little fairy garden in a nook to which you add something every day.

Greet anybody you meet from a safe distance. Say something nice to them or compliment them on something; that will help make their day!

You will hopefully come home feeling much more refreshed and happier in yourself. :tu:

Thinking of you at this anxious time x I suffer too from asthma, but I’m lucky I have an OH. He does the shopping. I find a daily walk around the village to pick forage and grass a real bonus for the piggies. My 91 year old Mum is in lock down at her Card Home but I have been lucky to talk with her through the Zoom app with the help of a very kind member of staff.
Talk one day at a time and remember we will get through this and come out a more kinder society x

I find a pattern to the day helps and each day is a little different.
Have a relaxed breakfast time.
Work for a while
Do household stuff for a while
Build in some piggy therapy time
Go for a walk.
I try to alternate the different tasks through the day.
And don’t forget to look after your soul

Thinking of you mate. How are you doing today, hopefully you can soak up a little sun in the garden if possible. Take lots of care x

Hello! I'm also asthmatic and had a scary time with it last year when it was uncontrolled for a while until I was able to get the right meds.

I'm officially working from home but the force has a limited number of laptops and while some of my colleagues are still going in (I'm in intelligence - nothing fancy but I love it) I'm not the highest priority to get one.

So I've barely been out of the house but I've got my husband, 2 teenagers and the dog as well as the piggies so I'm pretty lucky. Even so the isolation has had me in tears most days when they are busy with work or school and I'm trying to fill my time.

Ran out of parents a while ago, there's only my father-in-law who is 85, we're 100+ miles away but my brother-in-law & family are close by and my husband keeps in touch with them all. I'm sad that my kids don't have more grandparents but glad that my parents don't have to go through this.

So I'm learning Hungarian on duolingo, updating the dog's instagram @rorycutecavalier, digging the veg patch and trying to grow a few seeds! And being a pretty rubbish housewife!

I'm sorry that you're having a difficult time too, but in a way I feel better knowing that it's not just me. I'm impressed that you are being so busy, especially learning Hungarian....why Hungarian?

I was really happy to speak to two of my neighbours in person this morning. When the weather's nice we often have a neighbourly meeting and it was nice to do so at the appropriate distance.

I also managed to finish some work off this morning but haven't done the next piece that needs doing. My neighbour dropped off a couple of crosswords from his paper that we do together and compare notes, which I love and I spoke to my sister in Australia.

The weather's not brilliant but it's lovely seeing the piggies in their run getting used to being outside again.

So I'm doing ok but must get a little more work done every day.

I'm so glad you have a support system in place. We've been extra careful as well because my husband is high risk also. He doesn't have asthma, but he has heart problems that make him susceptible to pneumonia.

Lucky piggies to get to enjoy the outside again!
Big hugs from us!

Thanks for the hugs! Sending virtual hugs to you and your husband too!

I've been thinking a bit about learning Korean although it would be very difficult so would really have to push myself. Its only cos I love Korean pop. Hope you're doing OK today. I had a couple of bad days, especially at night when trying to sleep but feeling OK at the moment xx

Bless you. You are not alone. I live alone at the end of a cul de sac and the only person for days on end I see is my neighbour getting into his car. My family and friends live a long way away so I’ve not seen any of them for a while. I’ve been having major anxiety attacks so understand how you feel. In a sense we on the GPF are like a family. We are here for one another. Please do not hesitate to ask for support. We will get through this together x
