Hiya,

prior info is that my guinea pig has been to the vets yesterday (he just wasn’t himself, went so still and quiet and made weird noises, wouldn’t eat and drink) and they said he has pneumonia. He’s had two nebuliser treatments (with antibiotics at the same time) and the first night he started eating and drinking again. Because of this, the vets decided to give him an x-ray the second day to check how bad the pneumonia was - it’s been discovered that it’s actually quite mild even if he’s having difficulty breathing compared to normal. They said we don’t have to give him anymore nebuliser treatments but to put him in the bathroom when we shower so he can get steamed as well as giving him oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicines. I justfound the attached photo in his cage - should I be concerned? (We cleaned it and confirmed it was blood)

Oh dear, antibiotics can cause minor gut upsets but usually nothing so liquid and definitely blood is not normal- I would call the vets as soon as you can for further advice and show them the photo, maybe take them a poop sample, see if they can see piggy again... hope he's ok x

PS: the wateryness may be because it was under the water bottle and I suspect it could have leaked onto it.
