Potential mites? Take the whole heard or just one?

So, I've finally managed to get a vets appointment that fits around my work schedule.

All the bunnies are going in for their myxi jab/general health check. I'm also planning on taking Betty pig (and baby) and Elsie as I've noticed that they have patchy bald patches (if that makes sense?). To word it better, their hair is quite sparse in some areas. Non of them are itching, non of them appear to be suffering with it and the others in the heard don't have any bald patches, scratching, dry skin etc. Just to note, baby isn't suffering from this either but I don't want to stress any pig out by removing her from her mummy for over an hour and also get a professional opinion on the sex.

Now, they didn't come from the best place (as you can probably tell from the surprise pregnancy) so I'm unsure if it's due to mites, bad diet from birth that has caused the poor fur growth, their breed or something else?

I've only ever had a case of mites once before but it was a few years ago now and I can't remember how they treated it. If it turned out to be mites I know the whole heard of six would need to be treated but would they all need to see a vet? Or are vets usually happy to provide the treatment without seeing the whole heard? I'm quite happy to inject at home (if they'll let me) as I spent over a month giving daily injections for my rabbit Leo so I'm quite confident in what I'm doing.

I know every vet is different but just wanted to question it as I'm at work and not had a chance to get away from my PC to phone the vets yet.

Mites dont have to be treated with an injection. You can simply get a spot on. (Ivermectin) If your vet is ok with it (depends on the vet) then you should be fine to take several pippettes home to treat all of your piggies.

x.

As long as you're confident weighing them and working out the correct dose, I'd take two, just to show the vet that this is what pig 1 has, pig 2 has the same symptoms, as do the rest.
