Potential Sprain?

My pig, Bruce came out for floor time on Wednesday and was running around fine.. got him out last night for floor time and he was fine again.. towards the end of the floor time he was just laying down getting comfy and then was walking with his front left paw up.

I have thoroughly checked him over, his arm doesn't feel broken, and his paw is OK etc and he doesn't seem in pain when it's touched. He's eating fine, but is just laying down on his side most of the time as he isn't using his front paw to support himself.

I've read lots of posts about sprains, which I am assuming is what I'm dealing with. Anyone any experience with sprains and how long they take to heal?

You have my sympathies as I think my Mabel has the exact same thing, she is walking with her back right foot up (only the heel is on the floor). Pain relief is key. I am lucky that my vets allow me to give Metacam if needed so that's what we have done but you will need to see a vet for pain relief or to get their authorisation for you to give any you have at home. I think it can take a good few days to heal. In the meantime try to restrict his movement. With Mabel we have made sure all her food is close by. If I am not happy with it by the morning I will be getting her seen by a vet just to rule out anything else. She too is ok with us touching it.

I assumed pain relief would be the only thing that can be done really.

I shall contact my vet and get something for him.

He seems much more active this morning and is climbing up to his hay rack- there is also hay on the floor for him, which is an improvement from last night.
