I have tried this once before, and it didnt work, I'm pulling my hair out over it. my biccy is always needing the loo, and it really makes a mess in the kitchen run. I'm moving them into a bigger hutch, were I'm hoping to have my piggies startin 2 use a potty instead of the floor, it will b a very hard hutch 2 clean you see. any advice? or do u no any1 who does it?

very rarely you will find a guinea pig that only uses one corner to poo in. rabbits are more likely to do that.

guinea pigs, in my experience, have little control over when they are pooing, if it happens it happens. tends to happen more often when they are relaxed, so you will find more poo underneath houses, in cuddle cups, or around the food bowl.

places where they sit and chill out for longer.

I am afraid the fact that piggies poo and sometimes make a mess is a fact you will have to get used to.

Cant really recommend anything here... apart from maybe putting a little plastic tray underneath the house, so you can clean at least that spot easier by just taking the tray out and refilling it with bedding.

But to actually train them to only go in one corner? Good luck, youll need it.

My rabbit is litter trained and it was easy to do...but

In all my time of keeping piggys, I have never had any litter trained. They go where they go and I think you have to live with it, I'm afraid. Sorry I can not be more helpful!

I've had lots of piggies over the years and the one I have now is the only one who is "trained". He only ever goes near his food bowl. In fact, he perches on the top of his bowl and does it over the edge! I've even got photo's of him doing this, its so unusual. I have a fleece blanket at one end of his cage and the food bowls at the other. i can honestly say, he has never soiled the fleece. When he is out in the room, he goes back in his cage to go potty. Very unusual and I did'nt train him, he did it himself ;D

We have only ever had one trained guinea pig - one that lived by herself (she didn't like other pigs). She trained herself. In the end we used to put a little tray in the corner of her cage (I think they always used to come off aeroplanes - what they put food on). She would shuffle backwards and go in there - always.

My Colin is pretty good. He also lives by himself. I don't imagine you could get more than one to do it in the same cage! Colin always goes in one of three corners. The rest of the cage is completely dry and poo-free! :D

Roo has a couple of favourite corners where he prefers to do his poos.

Sammy just does then anywhere!

All my piggies have always tried to resist weeing on a lap though.

my piggy coco only went on her hay. never on woodshavings. wen she was on my lap in the house, shed never mess on me. shame, she passed away.
