hi guys just in the cage and noticed a powder like substance on the bedding, is it calcium? Both boys seem fine and eating fines. If it is calcium is there something I can do to lower the intake ? This is the first time I’ve spotted it, when feeling it it’s very powdered. Thanks

Yes, that is a calcium deposit. it looks like you have fed something that is higher in calcium. if it is just the odd spot, you need not worry. If you see new spots near daily, then I would check the diet, starting with water, pellets and veg to see whether they are too high.

I have also noticed that increased calcium pees can happen in run up to an acute cystitis (especially when your piggy has IC) as the very first symptom.

It’s the first time I’ve noticed it , daily they normally get red pepper, some sort of leafy green , cucumber and other things in rotation weekly so herbs, a piece of fruit, lettuce , fennel , carrot :)

Could it maybe be caused by dried grass as they have been having more of that recently?
