Apologies if this question has been asked before!

We have 2 boars, both about to hit that 4 month mark (fun times ahead we know haha) and while I’ve read it can risk a bond to have the smell of sows in the same room, what is the recommendation for other animals?

A friend needs a new home for her female Syrian hamster and we’re prepared to welcome her into our home but we want to make sure we won’t be putting our boars bond at risk. Would the smell of another completely different breed of animal bother them? Would it make a different that the hamster is female?

Sorry if this seems like a silly question. While it would be nice to give another animal a new forever home, we want to make sure it’s a good decision for the whole family!

It’s sow piggies that cause a problem rather than other animals. A hamster should be fine, but as with other species there’s no need for them to interact.

Hi!

A hamster in the same room is not a problem, just introducing guinea pig sow pheromones into a boars-only space!
We have several members who keep other small furries as well.
