Hi, I have just been given a guinea pig and she may be pregnant. I have no other info on her. I have got a clue how old she is but isnt a baby guinea pig. I have just put her in a cage with hay, pellets and veg. She is eating very quick so I take it it has been awhile since she has eaten.
Tomorrow I will weigh her and clip her nails.

I just hope that she isnt too old to have a litter

Goodluck hope she's ok! At least she is being looked after now and will get lots of nice food and love! X x

Well done you for taking her in. I have no advice sorry but hope things go well for the birth :)

Thanks guys, any advice would be great about pregnant piggys. I am hoping that she isnt pregnant but we will see!

Hi this is Bessie the 'preganant' piggy that was handed in last week.

Oh she's so pretty - I do hope everything goes ok for you both! x>>

Oh thanks, the trouble is I cant handle her too much. She isnt very tame and if I try and pick her up she runs so fast. I dont want to stress her out to much just to see if she is really pregnant.

I had some rescue piggies like this recently, one that I still have in foster care, i won their trust by offering them things that they love like dandelion leaves to take from my hands, and also just spending time sitting next to them in their cage with the top open talking to them and not necessarily handling them. I then start stroking them without trying to hold them, so as they dont always associate my hand going in the cage with them being picked up. You probably know all this and i'm stating the obvious but thought I would offer up my advice anyway x

Oh thanks for the advice anyway. Its hard because all I want is to know if she is pregnant! For my own needs hay! She is in with my castrated male and that has made her relax so much more. He is such a carm chap so I am sure she was giving to me for a reason!
I will just have to sit and weight and hope that she isnt pregnant or if she is that its going to go ok.

If she is pregnant you'll know about it sooner or later as they tend to get very large... Hopefully she's under a year or not a first time mum. Oh and she's cute too! :))
