Could certainly be, I am afraid.

A vet check up will be able to tell. We have a vet locator at top of page giving you your nearest piggy vet.

you wouldn't be the first to have a pregnant piggy from p@h and won't be the last unfortunately.

Hi & welcome to our friendly forum.
The good thing is if your piggie is pregnant P@H have to cover all expenses, because they sold you a pregnant guinea pig so keep your receipt for her & any other expenses. Your may have to tell them the situation. I have known pets @ home have said they will keep her there until the pups are born, decline that one. Do you know how old she is. If you go into the forums & it will tell you the food it is advisable to feed her on. You have to be careful what you feed her on otherwise the pups will get to big. That is the main danger for mum & pups.

She looks pretty lumpy, I’m thinking pregnant. I just went through this, the babies were born in February. I got mine at Petland in the US. I noticed they only had one cage for all of the guinea pigs, but figured they were all females or too young to mate. This was before I learned how young they can mate! Elsa had 3 piggies in the middle of the night. We went to bed with just Elsa in the cuddle sack and we woke up to this! Hopefully all goes smoothly for you too!F536A8B4-8095-4BEB-9C05-BDC61A8BE041.webp9E7AF2C9-0507-4C5A-B625-2369B9624F04.webp

Oh they are beautiful! I have 2 female pigs together do you think they’ll be ok in the same hutch still or will they fight once babies are here? X

I am going to ring pets at home today. She was only little when we bought her, she must only be about 3 months old. I will read up on food now. Thanks for your reply x

Firstly you need to check that the sex of your other piggy is definitely female. Mis sexing is common.
Phone PAH and ask for an appointment at their expense with the vet they use. A vet should be able to tell if she is pregnant.
Read all the pregnancy guides carefully and keep checking back here.
It should be fine keeping the two sows together (bear in mind that the other sow may be pregnant too however).
If they are outdoor piggies you may want to consider bringing them inside when she is nearing delivery so that you can monitor them closely.
Think carefully about how you will cope with an influx of babies. The boars will need separating from the sows at 3 weeks of age.
DO NOT take the babies back to PAH. Contact a local rescue for advice on rehoming them.

My two females were fine. The other female was really sweet with the babies!

I went to pets at home today and saw the vet.. I definitely have a pregnant guinea pig with at least 3 babies. And also the other guinea pig is definitely a girl, so it happened before I bought her.. she is about 50 days so babies will be arriving soon. P@H provided me with a hutch and accessories for when I need to separate. One excited daughter here and also I am just a tad excited too lol xx

Hope all goes well with your girl’s pregnancy.
Looking forward to hearing her progress.

I went through a local pet store (been in my city for ages, recently expanded and modernized) and got my avatar pic pig through them (he's perfect tbh). When I was asking about the sex, they stated they only bring in males (to avoid the prego scenario), which at the time, was really surprising (though they bring in female skinny pigs for whatever reason) as that wasn't really a concern years ago when I last owned a GP. Now, I'm surprised to hear pet stores are actually mixing them w/o thinking? Unless the pet stores are selling off their own babies, they SHOULD be fully aware of what's either being ordered, coming through the door, going into what cage, etc. After brushing up on all the more recent GP accepted norms, it's dumbfounding to think there are places still selling females that haven't been separated from males? Maybe a warning area in the forum that lists shops that are blatantly ignoring separation along with others that DO separate?

I’m going through a similar thing, how far through did you notice she looked large? I have a feeling mine only has one baby, it is so shocking because again from p@h (no rescues nearby) and I have had her 4 weeks. I don’t usually hold her like I am in the picture but it was the only way at the time for me to take the picture of the bump. Any thoughts I am still not 100% sure she is pregnant.CB32E1A2-F89F-4601-8F55-EA8AC820B3E1.webp

I noticed when she was about 4 weeks too that she started to get bigger on her belly compared to the other one.. ring pets at home and say your concerns they will cover the cost to get her checked x

I might do that, the suspense is sooo hard. Would I have to pay if it turns out she isn’t pregnant?

I got her checked free of charge and once it was confirmed the provided me with a hutch and accessories for when the pups are here.. also they said to take them back so they can sex them and that will also be free of charge too xx

Ah ok, that could be good, I would like to know for certain. Thanks for letting me know. It amazes me how reckless some pet shops seem to be with unexpected pregnancies being so common.

I know, mine would of only been about 2 weeks when we for her, they said it happened at the breeders. Good luck and let me know how you get on xx
