Hi guys! Today I decided to browse through craigslist. There was an ad for a pregnant piggy being sold for $80. This put me into a dilemma, as I did not know if I should try to contact them or even rescue them. I am pretty sure they were breeder as they were selling some baby piggies along with a pregnant female. If I would have if I would rescue this piggy with this be supporting their business? I would worry that if the female remained in their care that the babies may be used to breed. I am pretty sure they were breeder as they were selling some baby piggies along with a pregnant female. If I would have rescued this piggy would this be supporting their business? I would worry that if the female remain in their care that the babies may be used to breed. What would you have done?

All piggies need rescuing!
But yes, you are supporting by their business by getting them. There are always going to be piggies in this situation and we cannot rescue them all.

Honestly, I don’t know what I would do, but this is why I don’t look at such websites as I’d fall for them....!

You also need to be prepared for the consequences of taking them on - not always, but in these situations it’s likely you would be taking on health issues aside from the pregnancy. Also, do you have the financial means and space to care for more piggies? What about the babies? If the babies are all female, then they can all live together - you’d need a much larger cage. If there are boys, then they need to be separated out, again the need for another cage, plus the long term consequences of having males - they can only be kept in pairs, so if there are odd numbers of boys born then you have to think about the one who will end up alone, neutering etc.

I knew I shouldn’t have been looking at Craigslist! Later on, I might see if I can help them. For now, I don’t think I’m in a place to help out.
