Pregnant Piggy?

Hi, I have six piggys. 1 Adult sow, 2 baby sows, 3 adult boars.

I weighed 4 of my piggys, how many i had at the time(didn't have the babies), this time last week. The weights are below;

Sow - 600g
Boar1-800g
Boar2-1000g
Boar3-1100g

Here are the weight increases today;

Sow - 725g - increase of 125g!
Boar1-860g - increase of 60g
Boar2-1075g - increase of 75g
Boar3-1125g - increase of 25g.

I was just wondering is it normal for a sow to increase 125g in weight in 1 week? Or is there a possibility she's pregnant?

woah, thats quite an increase! I'm sure someone more knowlegable will be along soon. Sounds a bit fishy though doesn't it?!

Well, first things first, is there any chance shes been near a fetile boar?
How long have you had her?
How old is she exactly?
 
I agree with Connie - how old is she, how long have you had her, has she been with boars at any time over the last 10 weeks, what conditions has she been kept in before you got her?
 
She is about 6 months, i've had her for about 4 months, I got her from a local pet shop. And she is currently in with a fertile boar and has been for about a week and a half.

And yes I do understand all the risks of pregnancy etc...

I'm sorry that is deliberate breeding. That is not discussed on this forum. Please find another place to do so.

O dear....

I am unsure about the weight increase however at sows come into season every 17 days and if she has been in with a boar then there is a chance. How old is she? Has she had babies before?

However we are a rescue friendly forum and don't think breeding is a good option as it has risks for the piggie and the babies :(
There are also soooo many unwanted piggies in rescues.
Also breeding has the ability to become difficult to control if you end up with lots of pups and no where for them to go and also if boy pups are not removed from mum at the right time.

re is no such thing as "responsible breeding" when there are piggies in rescues all over the country. Let alone breeding a pet shop piggie! whos genes you have NO IDEA ABOUT! do you have 2 spare cages? so dad can be taken out before pups are born, so your poor sow doesnt have back to back pregnancies?
Do you have all these cages indoors?
Do either of them have ANY white fur? if so you could end up with lethals. Are you prepared to hand feed any rejected babies every 2 hours day and night?

You are so, stupid. *rolls eyes* its people like you the rescues on the forum have to deal with EVERY DAY!

Can we please remember that name calling and insults result in infractions. Regardless of what people are doing it's our job to educate, not resort to childish behaviour like that.
