I was brought up with guineapigs and now having my own place I am preparing to find a lovely little pair of piggies to bring home . I am looking for an indoor cage to join to an indoor run as I have to wait a short while until I can build a C&C. I was wondering if anybody has a large indoor cage for sale? or a midwest guinea habitat? Any where in the Lancashire,Merseyside, West Manchester area.
Please reccommend any indoor cages.
I have three lovely chinese dwarf hamsters in huge cages and I'm shocked at the tiny cages that are on offer to guinea pigs.
I would reccomend a ferplast 120cm as a minimum (which would be fine if you're looking to build a c&c cage anyway) or a 140cm cage. If you check out www.zooplus.co.uk they have some good deals and free delivery (i think). Might be worth checking out the for sale section here to see if there's anyone near you looking to sell one. You could also try ebay. Also google 'the range' as they are also selling 120cm cages for about £40, there may be one near you or they may deliver. Basically ferplast is a good style cage but there are many makes out there, just look for a minimum of 120cm but bigger if you can
Where are you planning on getting your piggies from?
Hello sorry I took so long to reply I have been doing alot of research in to cages and piggie things. Yes I have been to size up the indoor cages and for a little while i do think the 120 or 140 would be ok. I am going to have it opened up to a indoor pen too as I have now rulled out the possibility of any draughts in my new house
As for getting my piggies- I am looking to rescue but it is proving very difficult in my area as the recues are far away or have trios/ single males ect. I have kept half an eye on the support adopt section at p@h but wouldn't take their own stock that they but into adoption. I have seen in the past families take guineas there and I want to just bring them home.
One of my chinese dwarf hamsetrs George was a rescue from there! I was buying sawdust and saw a group of young girls about 18-20 who brought him in saying they got him at the start of uni and now they are going home for summer and dont want him any more. The poor thing was there for 3 weeks and every time we saw him he looked fatter and more scruffy so i took him home. he is adorable.
Any ways back on track, I have seen a few rescues down south with no more space and a growing list of piggies in need of a home and I have recently realised this reescue is part of the piggy bank so I am going to give her a call and see if a piggie train can be set up
