So someone contacted me who knew someone who had 5 male piggies and 3 females he needed to get rid of as soon as possible as he is moving abroad for work....I was going to go to Wheek and Squeak for another girl but it seems fate has intervened again :red rolleyes

I've got pictures of all of them, all longhaired (I think they are shelties!), one ginger, one black and white and one agouti.

I've also managed to get a bargain 120cm indoor cage on a stand for £15 which I'm picking up tomorrow, so that will be quarantine cage for a couple of weeks.

Just got to go there and decide which one to take now, will be really hard :(

Just worried that she will be lonely for a couple of weeks, at the moment she is next to the others in seperate cages, but here she won't be able to see the others to start with as she will be above them in the cage on the stand, although she will be able to hear them.

they sound lovely, cant wait to see pics of the lucky piggie....

Hey, I just got a new piggie a couple of hours ago! He's in the extra cage right now. He'll be in there for a few weeks. He is about two months old and is named Peanut. I am looking forward to seeing your new piggie!

Well there I was getting all prepared nice and early, was getting ready to go and pick up the cage today to get it in plenty of time....

Then today went a bit crazy, the man messaged and told me he had found a home for all 8 and wanted them all to go together (I hope they won't be mixed as the males aren't neutered :... ). So I was a bit disappointed, but while I was on my email account I found an email from a lady that was trying to find retirement homes for her sows as she was cutting down numbers, so I emailed her back apologising as I hadn't seen that and she emailed back saying would I like to come see them today. Anyway to cut a long story short I now have a beautiful 2 year old ex breeding sow occupying the cage (which was put up in a complete rush as I picked her up while the cage was still in my boot!). Anyway, she is here on a temporary loan to see if she will integrate with my group as she can be a bit bossy with other sows, and if she doesn't integrate the breeder will take her back and find her another retirement home and there is another sow I can try. We're not changing her name until we know whether she will integrate or not, so for now she is still called Treacle.

I must say, I normally hate breeders and was in two minds whether to firstly contact her, and to go today, but even though she did enjoy breeding she certainly wasn't doing it for just profit. She asked for a picture of my C&C and considering I didn't pay a penny for her, she gave me a huge bag of pricey changeover food and was intent I bring Treacle back to her if she didn't get along with my lot.

Anyway, here's some pictures of the little lady. She has been quite quiet all day, sleeping in the bed most of the day (I expect her first time sleeping on a fleecy bed rather than hay) and she has come out and had a nibble of grass, and is currently having a nibble on a hawthorn branch. Not touched the hay yet, but I'll work on her :(|). She seems to be very quiet at the moment.

Couple more pics I took today. I put her in the trio's cage while they were out in the run to get them used to each other's smells before I attempt bonding. She started tooth chattering as a reaction to the other's smells, so not very promising start :(

Ooh, she is beautiful - really hopes she likes your girls and they can live happily, introductions can be a bit fraught and nerve racking :...
Be lovely for her to have a wonderful retirement home after being bred so hope all goes to plan.
Keep us updated on your 'nanny' pig :))

Awwwwww what a sweetheart hope everything goes well :) x)

Introducing my current three was so simple, Marley picked Mabel out at the rescue and they travelled home together, and when I got Molly I cleaned the cage, and just put them all in together and watched like a hawk for half an hour....nothing happened rolleyes

I think this one may be a bit different though :...
