George had mites and has had the all clear for nearly three weeks now and I have not used his brush since I found out he had them.

Is it safe to use now as would any mites on it be dead now? I also want to use on my new piggie who is in the same cage are they Ok sharing a brush?

I know it is probably a silly question and will be fine but just wanted to make sure!

Thanks

Do you mean lice which can be gotten from hay and can be brushed out or shampooed out with Lice N Easy.

Or actual mites caused by stress and treated with Xeno 450 or injections from the vets? This is the best treatment for mites.

I would wash the brush, should be fine for using for both pigs. Same with the cage just a clean out with hot water and should be fine. :)

I would advise you to give the brush a quick spray of a disinfectant that you use when you clean the hutch, then wash it in warm water, allow it to dry, and the use it. At least this way any germs, bacteria, etc, will be killed. Plus, doesn't harm to do this occassionally anyway.

yes was mites vet did some spot on treatments. Will use the spray first - thanks for the advice
