Primark bags - common factor

Back in January we had to rush Pappy to the vets with bloat. Luckily she made a full recovery and because of this we changed the gangs diet and eating habits. At the time we didn't make much of it but they had a primark bag to play with and as usual much of it was chewed and eaten. Well the gang were given another bag on Friday and the usual chewing and eating took place. Well today Pappy was rushed to the vets with bloat and looking back the only thing the 2 bouts of bloat have in common are the primark bag. So to be safe than sorry no more bags for the gang.

I have not ever let my piggies eat anything other than their food, hay, card and paper. I freaked out when they ate a bag the hay was in as it was leaning on their run. luckily we did not have any adverse effects. I guess they will eat stuff even if it is bad for them. It may be best to avoid anything that is not food.

Hope Pappy feels better soon, some of them do have such delicate tummies that anything can set them off out of the ordinary. How are they feeling now - any poo's?

She's just come back after staying at the vets for the afternoon, she has cisapride, metacam and infacol as well as some critical care. I've not spotted any poos yet but the vet was happy for her to come home. So now comes the waiting.......

I’ve never had any problems with primark bags, maybe Pappy does just have a sensitive tum ! Hope your piggie feels better soon

Oh no poor piggy, hope everything's on the mend. I haven't actually given Noah and Elmo a primark bag before, never thought of it! But they regularly have a loo roll tube to chew/roll around, they eat some of it and there hasn't been any problems yet....might give them a primark bag now, imagine the cuteness I should imagine that if they're okay with loo roll tubes they'll be ok with them too?

I just realised primark bags are paper, I thought you were buying cheap bags! I obviously don't shop there. I hope your piggy is ok soon, I would'nt have thought it was the bag...

Thanks for your replys, she's had about 1 1/2ml critical care, ignored parsley and melon although now she's having a go at some grass. Still waiting for the poo though but we can feel some popping in the tummy so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

It's fab that she's eating her pellets and grass, hopefully soon she feels up to veg too. Keep us updated x

Lots of gentle tummy massaging will help get the gas moving too. Hoping she will get better soon.

Whee have poop !!. not only Pappy poop but Panda is doing normal poop (see other thread). Things are looking up.
Only piggy slaves could get this excited about poop.
