July 2018. Priscilla and Phoebe arrived.I hadn’t intended on getting more piggies. We had recently lost Keziah, Jemimah and Merab were happy together, but………. they needed a home and so came to live with us.
Coming from a difficult situation Phoebe was just terrified but Priscilla proved that she was made of sterner stuff and that girl had ATTITUDE!
It didn’t take Priscilla long to make her very own space in my heart.
Bonding the 2 pairs gave us 2 weeks of drama between Priscilla and Jemimah before they decided they were best friends
She was an explorer who happily wandered everywhere. When she ran her skirts bounced behind her.
Her fur was crazy and grooming was followed within a second by a good shake to ensure her neatly brushed fur went every which way again.
After Merab’s death the three ladies continued to enjoy life together
Although she mellowed in some ways Priscilla was always a diva.
Bum cleaning, grooming, nail trimming always resulted in the entire neighbourhood knowing she was being horribly tortured.
Micah joined the herd and soon found himself on the receiving end of pee spray from Priscilla who didn’t always appreciate his attentions.
Jemimah’s death hit Priscilla hard and she grieved for a long time. She still had Phoebe and Micah as company. The threesome pottered along happily until we lost Phoebe to cancer last year.
Priscilla and Micah enjoyed each others company but she began to slow down.
She could still scream if she wasn’t happy but was getting quieter and slower so I began thinking about what to do in terms of succession planning.
She was, after all, over 5 years old.
Enter Naomi and Ruth. Micah’s hormones went into overdrive and Priscilla retreated to her tunnel.
Looking back I can see that she was already ill but it wasn’t obvious until recent weeks.
A vet trip resulted in a bit of dental treatment which helped but the x-Ray had shown a shadow which my vet sent to Birch Heath exotic specialists for an expert opinion.
At this point I began considering all the options for her, just in case.
Without syringe feeding she continued to lose weight. Without the Loxicom she was in some discomfort.
When the vet called last week to say the shadow was end stage abdominal cancer it both a shock, but not a total surprise either.
We had already decided that pts would be the best option for Priscilla so I gave her one last happy today and said goodbye.
She was feisty, a diva, full of character and I miss her very much, but she is free of pain now and enjoying her new life, reunited with Merab, Jemimah and Phoebe.

Coming from someone who also had to pts a piggy with cancer last week, I can greatly sympathise with you.
