Probiotics.

How much to give and how often please when administering anti biotics?

Thanks

Jen

It depends on the type of probiotic, although powder probiotics are the most commonly used. I tend to make up half the recommended amount (e.g. if the advised is one scoop in 200ml water, I make up half a scoop in 100ml water). The mixture will keep in the fridge for 12-24 hours.

Syringe the pig as much as he will take; aim for at least 5ml about an hour after the antibiotic dose.

You can buy probiotic gels in other countries; I use Bene-Bac, which is sent to me from a friend in the US, and the "dose" is simply a small dollop wiped into the mouth around an hour after the antibiotic.

Interesting

The vet gave me 2 sachets of Protexin and 10 days worth of antibiotics ?/

I'd better get some more for Merlin ...
