image.webp image.webp Hi! I just remembered I have a tub of Pro-C Biotic bought a while ago. I've opened the lid before but not the packet, and it says it expires 08/17. It doesn't mention being included in syringe feeding, only sprinkling on food or in water. I've been having to part syringe feed Minja with pellet mash, but not sure about being able to use this. Would it be ok?

On a side note, bit unsure about how much pellet mash to feed daily and in one sitting. She's at a mere 800g and going to the vet for an X-ray soon, still eating and drinking
 
Thanks :) Giving her pellet mash right now. She attacks the water syringe but as soon as she realises I'm giving her the pellet mash she turns her nose, quite rightfully by the look of it lol. She gobbles up pellets though haha

It is OK to use. Syringe feed counts as food. If you want to give a specific dosage at a specific time, then you dissolve it in 1 ml of water (i.e. one syringe full), suck it up and syringe it that way.
 
One of my boys has it regularly, as suggested by my vet.

I give it to him as Wiebke mentioned, in a 1ml syringe. It's like piggy drugs, he loves it!
 
Thanks! Do you have a recommended dosage? As in how much to add t water.

Hey. On way home after vet. Thanks for your comments and good luck.

The vet is great. He was the one who treated Minja when she couldn't walk a few weeks ago. He gave her a shot of medication and proceeded to give advice on how much to syringe feed until/if she starts eating again. This was out of hours and he very kindly reduced the price of it. Said to ring tomorrow to update on condition.

Fingers crossed she starts eating and drinking xx She was nosing at the hay so can only hope
 
Good morning. I think Minja's gone blind. She seems mildly unsteady, bumps into a few walls, seems to just be very hesitant and doesn't try to run when I pick her up anymore. She had medicine for cataracts a while ago so I guess this isn't unexpected but unsure and worried about what to do. Her hesitant expands to a few things and I'm not sure if she can find the water bottle. I need to take a shower as she's going to the vet again this morning but I'm too worried to leave her in case she stops eating entirely, she seeed very hesitant to drink. She's got a few glugs and hay down though.

Edit: Saw she's squinting a lot more than usual (light?) and making a tutting sound

Just found two bits of hay stuck on the way down her throat. Both are now out, but she's chewing slowly and I don't know if there are anymore further down

Gave her a piece of hay. Chewing slowly, checked her mouth after and half of it sticking out her throat
 
What medicine was she given for cataracts as I was led to believe they aren't curable?

It sounds like there is something else going on with her causing the unbalance. The vet needs to diagnose something instead of simply giving an injection and sending you home.
