Good afternoon,

I've looked everywhere for advice but can't find anything specific enough. 🤔

I've bought some Probiotic powder for my Guinea, Bumble, as she's been going through a lot and occasionally has a windy tummy and some questionably shaped poop. (Teardrop.)

How on earth do I get this down her, please? It says to add a tiny scoop to 200ml water but there's no way she's going to drink that much water and she shares the bottle with another piggy any way! I made up the solution and dipped her vegetables in it but she's only ingested a few drops at best.

Am I supposed to get the whole scoop of powder down her? All 200ml? The instructions are genuinely vague. 😟

TIA 😍

Hi!

Mix a pinch with 1-2 ml of water and syringe once or twice daily to make sure that it all goes in correctly. }
Some piggues like it in their drinking water but many don't. You can also not control the intake.
I have also had piggies who would nibble their favourite vet neatly all around the patch that contains the powder sprinkled on it or hidden in it...

If Bumble has a healthy companion, then 'poo soup' made totally fresh from just dropped poos is actually more effective because you are transferring live healthy gut microbiome. It is a bit gross but it mimic the behaviour of recovering piggies and if done properly works better than probiotic powder as it contains the perfect culture for inculating the gut.

Thank you! I'll look at the poo soup idea as we currently have an additional piggy; I went to a rescue and ended up bringing two home instead of one... 🙄

She really likes the probiotics and is eating her vegetables which have been dipped in it but I'll try a pinch of it in 2ml of water. My only concern is the measurement. I worry about how much a pinch might be. Can she have too much?

A pinch is officially a 1/8 of a teaspoon, but what you can hold between your thumb and index is also fine. it is not a medication where you have to be totally exact.
