Hello Everyone. I just posted another thread. But I have long haired black, Mostly White with little brown female guinea pig. I do not have a friend for her. Nor did I really plan on getting her one Because of stuff I've been told that they can live a life without another guinea pig if you give them enough attention and love. Now all I really want to know is if her loneliness will effect her in the long run. Like if she'll just get sad and die, or if she will develop a disease of some sort. I've had her for a couple months and she seems to be doing just fine. I just get scared because I don't want to lose her. She's a big part of my family now. It's not that I don't have the space for another..its I don't have the money for another guinea pig, I'm just getting by with my current one and i don't have an adoption agency near me. She may be a small animal but she plays a big role in my heart.

@LittlePreciousP Being an only pig won't make her sad or ill but she will be less active and become bored.

It's surprising how differently a pig is when they have a friend. They're social creatures so it's in their nature to interact with other pigs.

A major point about modern animal welfare is allowing animals the freedom to perform natural behaviours. Natural behaviour for piggies does include chatting with their friends, chasing their friends, sniffing their friends behinds, being groomed by their friends, even arguing with their friends about who is the boss and who gets the last piece of carrot!
When we got our little boar Theo he had been living alone and although he loved people and cuddles he didnt really know how to act like a proper guinea pig and he was sad whenever we left the room. He's much happier now he has friends and he does a lot more normal excited piggy behaviours.
Getting a friend for your piggy should make them much happier than anything else you can provide for them as a human.
