A few months back my boar had a penile prolapse which I was told would need surgery if it did not correct itself, which fortunately it did. I had him neutered just over a month ago. In the last few days I keep noticing his penis is 'out'. It goes back in pretty easily after a little clean with warm water and gentle persuasion. I wonder if it is to do with being able to smell the two girls who are to be his new cage mates, or another prolapse? Does he need to go back to the vets or is it ok to keep putting it back in myself? He seems fine within himself also.

Continually putting it back in is not going to hurt. However if you were to miss it, for a couple of hours, or go out for the day etc, and the penis is left out all day, then it will dry out and cause a lot of issues and damage to the tissues. I doubt it has anything to do with the girlies, but maybe? You could always try him away from them to see if it makes a difference, then you will know for sure. If it does continue its best to get it sorted by a vet, you dont want to be putting his little winky away every couple of hours for the rest of his life.
