my boar (he is only 7 months) has a prolapsed penis. The vet thought it may be hormonal due to his young age so suggested castration. He had that done and the vet popped a stitch in at the same time to hold it in, the stitches came out and poor piggies penis popped out again within the day. The vet suggested doing another surgery to put a permanent stitch in to hold it in place but I don't want to put him through any more surgery if it is not totally necessary. He is eating, drinking and weeing quite the thing and seems happy popcorning away with his brother. I am checking it daily making sure it is clean with warm water and then lubricating with ky jelly......does anyone have any experience of this? is what I am doing enough? Is there anything else I can do? He is totally adored and I want to do the best for him, thanks

I don't have any experience, so I can't suggest a solution, but it does sound like you are doing a fab job managing it so far. Poor little man! At least he doesn't seem to effected at the moment.

As long as you make sure that the penis is fine and there is no danger of infection, he should be OK.
