Pronounce 'cavy'

I was talking to my boyfriend earlier this evening and he said 'kay-vee' I corrected him saying no its 'cah-vee'. It actually wasn't until after, that I realised that I might actually be wrong, so I did some research and I'm finding a mixed bag of answers. Any idea what the real pronounciation is anyone?

That's what I thought. Looks like you can say it either way so I'm gonna stick with cah-vee I think

I think its kay-vee but I believe technically the latin name Cavia should be pronounced cah-we-ah. If you were an ancient roman person. Who probably didnt have piggies. I think they kept doormice instead and ate them!
