I guess I'm a new owner, I've owned guinea pigs all my life but I've never owned them correctly until now. On valentines day 2014 my guinea pig Patches died of old age. I was devastated and I had been heart broken so much that I didn't want guinea pigs. When I was finally ready to own them again my mum said no because I lived in 2 houses and my dad wouldn't look after them on his own at the weekend. As time went on a lot of stuff went wrong with my home life it caused me to stop living with my dad and never see him again (trust me, thats good. He was not a good guy). That caused me to develop depression an anxiety. My mum saw how much i loved animals and thought getting another pet would be better (She didn't think 2 dwarf hamsters was enough) we thought about a dog, wouldn't work. Then we thought about a cat, again wouldn't work. One day we went shopping and went to a garden centre to get some hamster stuff (it had a pet section). I instantly fell in love with a beautiful male Rex piggy. My mum thought about it and we found a cage that was perfect (right size). Whilst the lady was working through everything we were talking about hamsters and we found out that the shop was stopping to sell any cage under the minimum for hamsters and guinea pigs and rabbits. They also get all their animals from a breeder and they gave the breeders contact info if we wanted to speak to the breeder. Amazing shop and I was pleased. We decided to get the Rex and his brother and now exactly 5 weeks later, almost to the hour, I have 2 lovely piggies who are so sweet and have huge personalities
