Puffing Noises URI? Help please

Hi,
My guinea pig is making a sound I can only describe as a puffing sound when she’s eating hay. She wiping her nose with her paws and has made the noise about 6 times whilst eating. Could this be a start of a URI? Her cage mate died just over a week ago, she was an older pig with cysts and had bad breathing one morning (no other symptoms) I took her to the vet and they gave antibiotics and she died just afterwards :-( I am now hyper vigilant looking at my current pig thinking she may have a URI and could have caught it from her cage mate? Please any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m sorry for your loss

The best thing is to take your piggy to the vet so they can listen to her chest.
I’m afraid we cannot know whether she is becoming unwell or whether it may just be have a bit of dust up her nose which she is trying to clear out, but it is best she is checked if you are worried.

In the meantime we can only advise that you increase the routine weight checks to more closely monitor her hay intake.
