Hi, my guinea pig has been pulling on her hair and I’m not sure why she hasn’t been pulling any of it out just pulling it and I can’t tell if their is something wrong or if she has mites or anything, I checked the area she is pulling and there is no black dots nothing wrong with the skin or no back patched etc. her hair is super thick so I’m not sure if she is maybe to hot or it is too heavy or she is just grooming it normally . As soon as her sister came over she immediately just started playing with her and hasn’t gone back to doing since so I don’t think it’s itchy as she probably would have carried on.

Is she concentrating on a particular spot when she is doing this?
Is she actually biting/eating hair (barbering)?

If she is concentrating on one spot, I would pop her along to the vet for a check. Sometimes this is a sign that there is discomfort - but not necessarily anything you can see - so a vet check would be advisable.

She isn’t a eating it or bitting it I think she just puts it in her mouth and licks it, I’ve only seen her do it twice but I’m not sure if they were in the same spot I will keep a eye on it!
