I saw this little dress at the Pet Store, And how could I say No? :D
But of course she is to tiny for it right now, I hope she grows fast! :Pimage.webp
:luv:

actually if she is 'too small' for it she will like it more. let her run through it like a tunnel. and walk around with it on her head like a hat
mine seem to like that. they dont really like chlothes that 'fit' they want big chlothes to play in

There is no reason why you couldn't dress your Cavy, People dress dogs and cats and many other animals, as long as your Cavy likes it there should be no problems. I say have fun and enjoy your friends they like warmth and as long as they don't mind why not dress them !

I cannot believe that people on this forum are agreeing that dressing up a guinea pig is fine! How on earth can you possibly know that they "don't mind"? They are prey animals and will naturally freeze if feeling threatened or frightened therefore appearing to be compliant.

The same goes for any animal, there is no need to dress any of them in clothing merely for out own amusement.

I am inclined to agree with this. I know some people will say "it does no harm" but then I think "what good does it do?" As has been said it is purely for human enjoyment. Other than Baldwins and Skinnies, our piggies have adequate coats that Mother Nature deemed were suitable, so why over-egg the pudding? Of course pet shops will sell animal clothes because they want the money. Just my opinion.

it's the same with dog coats/jackets. dogs have their own built in waterproof coat! it makes me particularly puzzled when i see labradors in jackets-do they not know what they were originally bred/used for?!

I don't know about putting a guineapig in a dress. However I can't imagine it would like it much. However if it's just sat on top of the guinea pig for a picture I suppose it would be ok as long as it didn't appear scared.

I don't see anything wrong with jackets on a dog that maybe feels the cold. My Jack Russell has a very fine coat and shivers in the winter. He actually begs to get a jacket on. Lol.

Thanks, that's OK. It is sometimes difficult to interpret the written word. If you'd seen me you would have seen me smiling and not taken offence. I apologise if you did take offence.

No offence taken here :) And yes, it is hard to tell!

Oh, a dress on for a small amount of time isn't going to do any harm, lighten up. I've dressed everything from my gerbils to my dogs up and they all lived and had acted just as they would without having some clothing on for a little bit. I don't see where this terrible harm is coming from them having some fabric on them for a couple minutes and being the end of the world?

I must have the most abused puppy on the planet because not only is he DYED he also wears accessories!

We are going to close this thread, as it seems to have run it's course, there will never be a consensus of opinion with regard to the dressing up of Piggies..
