purple eyes...

has anyone every heard of a guinea with purple eyes...?
is it a genetic thing or is a sight problem...?
as coco... whos a 3 year old sow... mid length hair... and light brown and white... and she has purple eyes...

i've never seen it before...
i've been unsuccessful at getting a pic that shows it... so as soon as i can get a photo i'll upload it.... :)

Just a varioation of blue. Humans also have purple eyes - it's when blue eyes have poor colour and the red blood vessels in the iris are visable through it - making them appear purple or mauve.

My harvey has rather purple tinted eyes his dad's eyes are blue his mums eyes are ruby. But it's hard to photograph as his pupils are deep red.

i did wonder if it was mom had red and dad had blue that caused it...
becuase it does just look like blue on top of red...

Yup it does, at some angles Harveys eyes just look blue with a red pupil but in certain lights they are quite purple, definately very pretty. He certainly seems to have no issue with his sight so i dont think it's detremantal to them.
 
so it's going to be really hard to actually get the right light conditions to even attempt to get the pigture!

and shes such a pretty girl aswell... makes her very striking...!

no its ever so strange to explain... i looks like red eyes that are covered in a blue film... rather than just purple eyes...
wish i could take a photo and show you all....
