is this common in darker haired piggies. or does this sound like an old eye injury, or possibly limited sight? thanks.

How old? It looks to me like the lens (central bit) is cloudy which, depending upon the piggie and the colour of it's eyes (dark/ruby/red/) and surrounding coat will reflect the light in different colours.
Cloudy lens could be a possible cataract? Doesn't look to be a recent injury as there is no inflammation.
Think Vet input would be helpful here to determine exactly what is going on but looks like sight is becoming limited.

Was the photo taken with a flash? My biscuit looks identical and her eyes look like this in photos where the flash has been used (mistakenly).

thanks for the info. this is eddie's potential new girlfriend and the first pic i've had of her and i noticed her eye. it isn't an issue to us but i want to know what it is so i can be prepared.

i have asked about it now so i'll see what they say. if you look closely you can see a little red mark aswell. maybe a hay poke or she has scratched with her nails?

Entirely possible. I've just seen your post on RU. Tracey is lovely and very good with pigs (my pigs and buns board with her), so she will be able to tell you for sure if there's a problem with Treacle's eye :) . It does sound very positive, will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

that's good to know. she sounds like a nice lady. hopefully it is just the lighting or flash from the camera. x

What a stunner, hopefully just the light in the photo on her eye. Hope all goes well x

Hopefully is is just the light, but if it is cataracts I would not be too concerned. Fuzzy has them and leads a perfectly normal life.

thank you. i just wanted to know incase it caused her to be more scared during bonding. but hopefully she will be fine. i'll be letting her settle for a while anyway next door to eddie where she can hopefully relax a bit and see eddie through the bars before bonding, and also get used to us aswell. x

it was the camera flash. the lady has replied on my thread on the rabbit forum. we're definitely having her to try with eddie so she will be here in about two weeks when her owner is back off holiday. fingers crossed for a good bond. :)
