hi all,
i noticed a purple spot on my male guinea pigs stomach when cutting his fur, his a little more bald in that area too. i don’t want to rush taking him to the vet in case it’s something as simple ad a nipple which maybe i’ve missed before. it’s not painful for him and it’s not raised, it literally just looks like a purple spot. if it’s not normal, i will ofc take him to the vet.. i just want to double check before i spend that kind of money.

Hi

Could you please take a picture and upload it via the Attach Files button next to where you write your post. Sight unseen we cannot comment, unfortunately.

Nipples are raised obviously and a very few piggies can have three. Mammary tumours, which are often purple coloured and which are more common in boars, are always located just below a nipple.

But anything beyond that we need to have a chance at looking at your spot.

alright, i’ll be home in a couple hours and will take a photo then. i couldn’t see anything underneath it that would suggest this isn’t a nipple but again i know it’s hard to diagnose without seeing. there will be a photo attached very soon.
