Hi. We've moved our piggies in doors for the winter. We've got used to all their little noises, but today Rosie has been making a purring vibrating sound all day,it's unusual for her to make that sound constantly and wondered if anybody had any advice or information..many thanks. Rebecca.

She could be on heat. Once every couple of weeks, for a few hours to a day-and-a-half, females are on heat and rather hormonal. Some of them purr and rumble and may even mount their cage mates (even though you'd think that was male behaviour). Even subordinate sows may do this. If the behaviour has gone by Saturday then that's probably the cause :)

I sounds like she is coming into season; not all seasons are equally strong.
Sow Behaviour

That's interesting. She was making some rather strange moves towards her playmate so that makes sense now. Thankyou
