Would this have to be done at over time or could they go out straight away? They have a proper outdoor hutch and I would get the appropriate coverings and when I could afford it maybe a mini shed for the winter?

Please help got a new hutch and hubby is kicking his toys out the pram over it so I need all the adivce you lot can give!

My boys live outside and the girls inside my hubby spat his dummy about to many cages in the house so ive just brought some c & c cages waiting for them to be delivered then they'll all live in my 10ft by 8ft shed but they've been fine rain, snow and winds i cover them over if the weathers really bad. they were put straight out not over time and they've been fine think they prefer it anyway :)

thanks kath he wouldnt let me have c+c cages wont let me have two smaller cages in the house, wont let me put them in the spare room which has the camping stuff and computers in so the only alternative i can think of is to put them outside in my new hutch and when i can get them a shed, just get them a cover for now.

thanks

it's starting to get cold at night, and the weather is turning this week. under 10 degrees at night, so i'm not sure if it's a little late in the year to put them out now, it would of been ideal when the nights were warmer, maybe someone else who know more can advise you.
If i were you I'd get the shed first and then put them in that. But sooner rather than later.
I know fluctuations in temperature can make guinea pigs ill.
Keep us updated and good luck.

hi any idea where i could get a shed not bothered about the height.?

how much are you looking at spending? you can get a basic shed at most diy shops for £99, or you could try ebay putting in your postcode for local pick ups, or try your local classified ads online.
We just bought a huge shed on ebay for £50 which we are going to use for the animal boarding we are setting up.
Good Luck.

ok ta should i just search for garden sheds or is there any other kind?

could anyone give me a link to try please not having much luck in finding any

Strictly speaking being outside wouldnt be new to them as they have lived out every time they come to mine for their holidays.

My sister has 2 x 6 year old boars and they have lived out all their lives because she doesnt want them fighting over sows in the shed. She covers them with a hutch hugger and gives them plenty of deep bedding to snuggle up into.
They are every bit as healthy as the ones that live in the shed or house

Can you still bring them in for cuddles and floor time or will it upset them coming in and going out?

No the temperture fluctuations could be fatal putting them out now should be done with caution. Daytime weather is not so bad for the next few days but the nights are going to be very chilly. If you have something you can cover them with they should be ok for a couple of weeks yet untill you can get a shed. It does not matter weather its heated just out of the damp and cold ;)

thanks if i got a shed I would have to do all my cuddles in there? What size shed min size as it would be going in my back yard and I still need room for my washing?

i think 6x4 is the smallest shed, this would do the job, leaving you space for cuddles. You could even leave the hutch doors open, with a ramp down, so they could get exersise out of their hutch for a few hours a day.

thanks maisydaisystar I was thinking of letting them roam about the shed during the day and just locking them in their hutch inside the shed overnight

thats what i do if the weather is bad, they will love it, i have a long piece of wood infront of the door though, and step over it when i go in. don't leave the door open if you do this though cats and foxes will get curious. have you found a shed yet?
