Well its a shame he hasnt changed his mind on breeding them, but at least he might be better informed...I really think the whole idea of skinny pigs is totally wrong >
I personally think the motive was more about finding out more info about breeding them and making contact with breeders in the hope of acquiring some closer to home? But who really knows?
As long as
anyone is breeding them and selling them un neutered, no matter how careful they try or claim to be, they will at some point fall into the "wrong" hands. I agree with you maxthepig, the whole idea of breeding these animals is wrong. If people do want to breed for the "right" reasons, I would have thought there were enough beautiful breeds to choose from and coat types to suit everyone...but it seems I am wrong and some people want to see practically or entirely naked guinea pigs. Why?

Just because something is "cute" or "different" doesn't make it ethical to breed and perpetuate it, especially when you are creating something which is quite unnatural and contravenes Mother Nature.
But I agree that some people Will continue to breed these guinea pigs and they will all no doubt have their own reasons for doing so :-\
Unfortunately once they do end up for sale in pet shops, that is when we will (in my opinion) see an explosion in their popularity.
Sadly no breeder, however caring, careful etc they claim and aim to be, will, as I said, never be able to guarantee that a skinny pig they sell will not be bred from, if it is sold entire...That's life. (It's the same for people involved in general recscue and their guineas)
This is a generalisation and not directed at any breeder in particular
