afternoon all, can anyone help? i have a 4 year old piggie called cutes and have just got a new baby one they are both girls can i put them together? thanks for help x

My Barty was over 5 when I seperated Rebel from his mum at just under 3 weeks old. They were inseperable until Barty died when Rebel was 4 months old.

I have a two year old sow, with a two year old (nuetered) boar, with their 8/9 month old sow,and two 4 month old sows and they all live happily together!

Barty and Rebel were different breeds, and nowhere related. ;)

You can introduce guinea pigs at any age; please use neutral ground etc. with girls, you will usually know fairly quickly whether they will get on or not.

I would recommend giving your girls a couple of days next to each other, so they can get to know each other through the mesh/bars before you commit to a full introduction; that way, your younger girl can get a hang of her new home and routine. It will take quite a few additional stress factors out of the intro. Your older girl will probably make it very clear who's boss. A very few older sows prefer to be alone and do their own thing rather than live with another piggy. As you have already got another piggy, you will have to find out yourself. Generally, I would recommend dating a single piggy at a reputable rescue to let the piggy choose its new friend under expert supervision. That way, you only come back home with another piggy if there has been success.

Here is a collection of tips on how to stage a successful introduction:
