Hi all,
wondered if you could give me some advice. We have 3 guinea pig ladies who have always lived inside and as I was told when I got my first pigs (6 years ago) that they were very sensitive to temperature so not to put them outside unless it was over 14 degrees I have always been too worried to put them outside unless it's a really pleasant day. I realise now I might have been pampering them a bit too much so we have recently started putting them out every day. They have a 6' x 4' run, and in it there is a cat box, with a fleece blanket in, an igloo and a big plastic tube. I also have a blanket covering almost half of the run to provide shade (plus of course a hay box, pellets, water bowl and water bottle).
My question is about if it rains/has been raining. I have read never to put pigs on wet grass, what about in the morning when there is dew on the grass but you know it will dry out soon/has been raining but has stopped now? What about if rain is forecast but the temperature is going to stay warmish (say above 12 degrees)? I've got a tarpaulin sheet I can use, and since we've started putting them out a bit more it hasn't rained so I haven't had to worry!
Thank you, sorry this is so long x

I dry the grass with an old towel, lol. Pampered or what?! Under their boxes is usually dry, I leave the boxes and hidies out there for that reason.

Ha ha drying the grass with a towel, marvellous, I love to hear someone else that tends to their pigs every need and whim!

Your piggies do sound wonderfully pampered by the way :)

My piggies go out every day for lawn time 'Boys are back in Town' one day and 'Here come the Girls' the next in the Spring and summer as long as it is not chucking it down of course! If there is only dew on the grass I pop them out as long as it is going to warm and the sun will burn off the dew. It gets some more hydration into the guinea pigs.
