Hi all,
My guinea pigs are still in the utility room/shed at the moment, i didn't want to bring the hutches out just yet because it's still chilly through the night.
my OH wants me to move the hutch out this week, we are having a Medieval Banquet this Saturday(for our anniversary) and he needs more room to prepare the food and wants to serve the drinks from there too. Do you think they will be ok, worry that it's not warm enough for them.
He says it's about time they were moved out, I don't think I can persuade him otherwise.

Re: Putting the hutches outside

mine have been outside for a few weeks and they seem fine, plenty of hay inside to keep them warm

My three are still in the shed in hutches. You could put yours inside a shed or garage if you have the room ;)

they are in the shed at the moment, but oh wants them out this week

Put them out on Thursday its going to be damp and cold most this week. Cover them over at night to help keep them warmer. They will be fine :)

have the cover ready for them from last year, got an old sleeping bag too ,might use that under the cover for a couple of weeks.

They should be O.K. just do as everyone else has said, lots of hay and cover the hutch up in the evening. The sleeping bag would be brilliant to use. Also put a waterproof cover over the hutch to make sure the covers/ sleeping bag don't get wet as this will be no good for your guineas. :)

mine are outside now, i put blankets over the hutch at night with a hutch hugger.

Mine have been outside since just after the clocks changed, a cover will certainly help, make sure they have plenty of bedding to snuggle in, possibly little houses to help them keep warm, I think they should be OK

have persuaded my oh to let me leave them in the shed a bit longer, so i'm happier now.

That's good of him and well done for persuading him. Has he said how much longer they are allowed to stay in the shed for? O0

no, I think he'll let me move them out when I'm ready, sometimes he moans about my pets, and the space they take up,hutches, pet carriers toys, food etc: he'll give me a hard time about it occasionally, but in the end I always win him over. He knows I know what's best for them, and gives in. He says they're only bloody guinea pigs. But he still lets me do what i want in the end. He's just gets jealous.

;D Well I know what I would rather pick. ;D Your OH sounds quite nice. O0

he is, he rants at times but I know when he does it that he's feeling left out, He loves being centre of attention, Bless him.
He doesn't understand us animal lovers, and i don't think he ever will. He loves me so he goes along.

all my 12 pigs live out side in cages well there under a carpot and have been five
