So Buffy and Spike have now met, have had several play times together and apart from a bit of rumbling, mounting and teeth chattering they seem fine and Buffy keeps the little rascal in check. I was just wondering how soon before I can put them together? I'm home all day tommorrow and it's cage cleaning this weekend so didn't know if I should take the divider down for a trial run.

Advice greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert, I'm sure others more experienced than me will advise, but i have 5 piggies and each time I have introduced a new one to the herd, after they have met and got to know each other on neutral territory such as the carpet or on our laps and seem to be getting on, I give them a bit of time together in the hutch, monitoring it carefully incase, but it has always gone ok. Are Buffy and Spike male or female?

Best of luck love O0 :smitten:
You can always refer to Susies' Barmy4Boars site, it's fantastic for intro's with boars etc... i'm sure somebody will log on soon and give some fab advice, you know what they're like on here, always ready to help :)

What do you mean by divider? If you mean you have something dividing their two enclosures, then what you should do is clean/disinfect the whole cage, equipment, area and anything they have come into contact with. After you have done this set up the enclosure for the two of them and put Spike (male) in the cage for a couple of hours, so he can put his scent all around the cage. After he has been in the cage for a couple of hours you can then introduce Buffy (female) in the cage and then just keep an eye on them to make sure there are no signs of aggression, threatening or nasty behaviour. If not they should be fine. Make sure they have two of everything e.g. food bowls, water bottles, hideouts. O0

Cheers guys

By divider I mean I have 2 c&c panels splitting the cage which I was going to take out.

There haven't been any obvious signs of agression except buffy might just nudge Spike if he's up in her face and stuff which i guess is normal.

I would just do floor time together until you can completely scrub the cage and get rid of any lingering smells . Then put in some new bedding and move everything around in the cage. Try to make it as much like a new cage as possible then try the piggies in it. Thats how I put my two boys together and they're doing fine so far.

This is useful for me as next week I'm going to start introduciong Simba to my girsl!
