Just had some meadow hay delivered from Hay For Pets, and the quality of it is SO much better than the hay I have been buying at Pets at Home! Would highly recommend.

Thanks for the recommendation! :) Always good to know where good hay is available

I have just placed my second order with them - started using them after reading recommendations on here. The hay is good isn't it?

I'm quite a new GP owner so not an expert on hay, but even to my non-expert eye, the quality difference was night and day! The P@H hay was almost yellow and really hard, whereas this hay is lovely and soft and green. Even their Timothy hay sample that they gave me was far superior to the P@H timothy hay. Pip and Honey went crazy for it when I put it in and sat and munched on it for ages!

I would also like to recommend timothyhay.co.uk. just got my first bale and it's beautiful, green and clean and dust free. Shop bought doesn't compare

We have meadow hay from hay4pets too! My girls hated the INGs so they sent me a replacement bag of meadow and they love it!

We had an order arrive today. I have just filled the girls's hay trays and they have been so excited, zoomies, popcorns - the full works. They have finally settled down now to actually eat some.

I got 5 different types from petplanet.co.uk, I've found them really good as they offer free delivery on orders over £40 and you can upgrade that to next day delivery for £2.95. When I've tested them, I'll probably bulk buy as their prices are pretty good too.

That seems ever so expensive Tiny compared to hay for pets ... which is just under two pounds for a kg. (18 pounds for 9.5kg).

Oh, my order contained non-hay stuff (I have fish too); I spent roughly £18 for four 2kg and one 500g packs of hay, the hay itself ranged from £1.25/kg to £3.50/kg; I'm just trying a range at the mo :)

I agree with everyone who has said sometimes you can just tell by looking at it. For those in the U.S., I've found this brand "Sweet Meadow Farm" and our guinea pig likes it so much compared to Oxbow and it's a much better price:

Boston Animal Food and Hay-Sweet Meadow Timothy Hay (2nd Cut)

He eats it very enthusiastically, where before with the Oxbow he would just occasionally have a bite but mostly not bother with it and go for the pellets. Now the pellets mostly stay untouched and he eats plenty of hay!
