And she is not happy. She has been hiding all afternoon. She has started Intrafungol and F10 cream for her nose. Vet does suspect ringworm as he tested for mites and didn’t find any

Should I remove the grids?10CB7857-2904-4BC4-9119-00DB7255227F.webpFC44276B-D175-4F0A-9D12-D9DFD0285D36.webp

If you have other piggies don’t put her in with them, just in case 👌🏻

Will I need to rebond the herd later? She can see and smell them through the grids and it’s not as if she is in another room.

I think ringworm is contagious so I don’t think having them in the same room is a very good idea. @PigglePuggle may be able to help

:agr:. If she is a new piggy, never been with the others and is now in quarantine due to the ringworm then she needs to be well away from the others and you would also need to take steps - new clothes, showers between handling affected and unaffected piggies etc. However, if she was originally in with them then they may well be at risk of developing symptoms in which case quarantining isn’t going to do anything as they have probably already been exposed.

Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

Quarantine really means in another room, the spores can still spread, If it were me I would leave them together and treat them all, but that's just me I'm not an expert. As she's been with them all this time I would have thought any spores that are going to be spread have been.

Uhhh, nope. They didn’t like it in there and the house was too quiet. I missed the wheeking. It’s not the same when you crinkle a bag and get...silence.

The herd is in the back room. The cabin is half storage and part office.

I'll be honest, I separated daisy when she had ringworm but obviously it was already too late and the spores had been able to infect the others. There's an incubation period so it doesn't show immediately. I mostly separated as I was going on holiday. The second outbreak I didn't bother as I figured if the other pigs were going to catch it they will have already been exposed.

I’m bathing the herd again on Sunday as I didn’t give enough time for the Nirazol to work on the skin today but any spores in the fur have been washed out. Sweetie started Intrafungol today and I’m spraying F10 everywhere.

Fingers crossed the others don’t get infected. It cost £400 the last time at the vets for the full herd, and this close to Christmas is not good.

Yes we have Blodwen quarantined in the spare bedroom away from the main herd, as she arrived with ringworm and has never met the others. When Jezebel was diagnosed with fur mites though I left her with her friends and treated the whole herd as they had been snuggling up together in a pigloo so anything would already have been passed on plus I wouldnt want the stress for her of separating for weeks then rebonding.
Healing wheeks for poor quarantine piggy! Its a shame piggies cant video conference call each other and form a quarantine support group...

Thank you for your replies. I have not been happy with Sweetie’s sudden desire to constantly hide, which goes against her nature so I have removed

Removed the grids.

Another bath for all of them tomorrow and another deep cage clean and then it’s only once a week for 3 weeks.

And pray it doesn’t spread.

And I have a room to disinfect aswell
