My huge coroplastic sheet arrived today finally. Is it best to use the connectors to make the grids or cable ties. Instruction videos seem to use either so wonder what the difference is. Also some use grids on base others don’t. Is it wise to use a base of grids too?

What is best to fasten corners and the pigs won’t eat the plastic will they?

I’m going to use some grids with ties to make part of it have a roof so I can continue to have it covered with a throw for more privacy for them. Ties make sense here as they will act as a hinge

Thanks.

I have a measure tape and a normal kitchen knife to make it and scissors. The base colour is white. Boring I know but at least I can see where I need to clean.

I’d use connectors, but use cable ties as well. I have my spare cage cable tied (except the ends so I can concertina it up for storage), but always add connectors when the cage is in use.

cable ties alone aren’t rigid enough - the sides will push in or out, the connectors will give your cage stability. The cable ties add another layer of security in case a connector pops off.

I would advise you to build the cage up with connectors, then put the cable ties on and tighten them. The connectors will mean there is a a small gap between each grid so if you were to do cable ties first then you may not be able to get the connectors on!

no need to put grids on the base.

ive made sure with my cable ties that the bottom one is very low and that the top one is very high - they’ve never gone near them

(When I had correx, mine was white!)

Thank you a mixture of both sounds good. I can see with these grid connectors there is a CM or more between each grid. I’ll have to factor it all correctly so the bottom fits and isn’t loose.

No bottom grids saved having lots of grids down there unseen. I’m hoping this goes ok the bit I’m most concerned with is half cutting the correx so it folds. Mess that up and it’s a total fail.

I agree on the connectors and zip ties we have used both :) have you got 4MM correx, just press very lightly and just break the surface when you are scoring it to fold!

Scoring correx is actually easier than you think. Just press lightly to begin with and then you can build up if necessary, you’ll soon feel the amount of pressure you need to break it’s surface.

Yes it was 4mm I bought it from shop I searched posts here aluminium shop or something. Was label 4mm and c and c. Lightly does it then no heavy handed ness

That’s where we get ours from, you should be fine! Good luck !

Lol rp1993 I just searched again and the post I found it was actually you who had mentioned you had got yours from there in another thread so that’s when I checked them out and made my order. So thanks to you for the suggestion on that other persons post!

I agree to using both. I did for my piggies’ c&c. Worked well, although it took a while to dismantle 😭

Quick query The connector things stick out at bottom. Is the plastic sheet meant to be cut to fit in between these or go on top of them?

I use both the connectors and zip ties at the top and bottom just be extra safe :3 I put the zip ties up high and behind the chloroplast so they cant chew it

I used both. To be honest I used MILLIONS of zip ties😂😂 the connectors were used for the bits I needed to be structurally sound, but otherwise I used about a zillion ties to keep it together. Infact the top shelf is 90% cable ties 😂

I echo what others have said - Both connectors & ties for my cage as well. I have my cage on top of an Ikea desk - by having both - when it sometimes gets moved the entire cage won't fall apart! Plus, it's just a good piece of mind to know that the cage is structurally sound.

Would love to see your cage when you are done with it!
