Hi all,
I hope you don't mind me coming on here and asking a few questions, its been a while since I have been on but I don't have a lot of spare time for forums at the moment.
When I joined the forum I had 2 piggies Pickle and Squeak. Pickle had been ill for a long time with cataracts and possible diabetes/hormone problems (the vets never found out what). Unfortunately, she died a couple of months ago, leaving Squeak alone. I know how important companionship is for piggies so I am worried that Squeak will be lonely. She seems ok at the moment, I have moved her cage so I can give her more attention now. She is in my bedroom (can't put her downstairs as my 2 dogs would be more than interested in getting her out to play!) so I get her out quite a lot but I have noticed at night that she makes funny squeaking noises that I have never noticed before. I am wondering if she is lonely or perhaps in pain as she is quite old herself now.
I am just wondering if I should try to get another piggy to join her or if she would rather be alone now that she is probably used to it. Another thing I should mention is that I didn't really want to get anymore piggies as I don't feel that I have enough spare time to give them the attention they need, I have just split up with my partner and having 2 dogs and a full time job don't leave me with much time to myself anymore. I have thought about rehoming her - my dad loves piggies and would definately look after her and as both my parents are retired they have a lot of time on their hands
Taking her to my parents would involve a long car journey though and I don't know if she would be up to it.
Any advice? What would anyone else do in this situation? I have thought about moving her to the kitchen as I have space there but is that a bit unhygenic? Thanks for any replies I might get
