I have a small backyard with a mixture of grasses and the occasional dandelion. I have not yet let our Piggies eat grass from our backyard. I've read that if grass has been urinated on by a dog that can be poisonous for piggies. My family does not have any pet dogs, neither do my neighbor's, but what if some random neighbors dog had ran through the yard and urinated on the grass? I'm probably worried about this too much. But just wondering if it's safe to let the piggies eat the grass? For now we would be clipping it for them and immediately putting it in their cage. We have been gradually getting them used to Fresh grass by growing it ourselves indoors, but it's hard to get any kind of volume this way so was hoping to use some of the grass from my backyard. We won't be letting the piggies in the backyard until we have an appropriate run for them. I'm currently looking into some options including suggestions that were made on this forum in other posts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What is the likelihood that a random dog ran through the garden? Is it not fenced off or similar?

It's got a small fence so it's got some protection. Probably not very likely.

You need a good sturdy run with a lid. Furthermore one you can put large camping pegs in the ground to secure it. I wouldn’t worry too much if you get the occasional dog peeing on the grass as long as it‘s occasional and not being used as a toilet area. I like to pick grass after a rain once it’s dried a bit as you know the grass will have had a wash or you can pick and rinse it and spread out on some kitchen paper to dry

We get cats, foxes, badgers and a squirrel in our garden! I needed some grass for Daisy so drove to a local green field to find some... our grass is too short! I always wash it thoroughly tho wherever it is from.. I grew some last year.. at least I knew that hadn't been urinated on 🤣
