Hi! So i was wondering, how do you know if your guinea loves you and shows you affection, how and when should you handle them?

Generally, if they take food from your hand, then they have learnt to trust you. They may never like to be handled though. In terms of handling - this is very piggy dependent. Some dont mind it, others will never like it.
My boys have been with me for three years and I dont handle them for cuddles. I only handle them for health checks and moving them from their shed to their run. They dont like being held and handled, but they do allow me to give them the odd head stroke. They both do, however, take food from me (it took one of them six weeks to take food from me, but it took the other 18 months before he trusted me enough to do it).

:agr: It really depends on the individual personalities of your piggies. My female Daisy (almost 4) shows affection by licking me whenever I put my hand in the cage. She also loves her pats and cuddles, but despises being picked up 😂. Violet (almost 8) loves pats and lets you pick her up, but isn't the biggest fan of cuddles. Oscar (also almost 4) hates being picked up, hates cuddles, but likes pats and licks your hand. Your piggies may hate actually being picked up, but loves cuddles (like Daisy) or they may not mind being picked up but hate cuddles - or they may love or hate both 🤷‍♀️🤣.
There really is no set way that guinea pigs show affection. As said above, they may show affection by taking veggies from your hand, or by letting you pat them. It really depends on the piggy 😃

It really depends on the pig in question. I have had some pigs who are obsessed with licking/nibbling our hands, which I think is affectionate in nature (I think they are trying to 'groom' us like they would another pig.)
