Hi, I was in the range earlier today and they had some really nice looking hay, was very green looking and much nicer looking than the stuff in pets at home. I'm not sure if this is ok to give as a main hay though as it has all sorts of extras in it. I read somewhere that hay with dandelion shouldn't be given as a main hay as it's too high in calcium. This one doesn't have dandelion but it does have pumpkin, sweet pepper, beetroot, mint and marigold in in it. It's called Nature's Own timothy rich 5 a day hay - Natures Own Timothy Rich 5 a day Hay 750g . the ones in the shop looked much greener than the picture on that website though.
Can I give this to my guinea pig as a main hay or should it just be used as a treat?

My pigs love that hay!
I give it as a treat in the evening, only because it's a bit expensive.
I know it says it has extra things in it but I haven't noticed them to be honest...

I could definitely see all the extras in the bags this shop had, there was loads of yellow marigold heads in it and other orange/yellow/brown bits in it. I think it must depend on your luck as someone else recommended a hay to me as being lovely and soft and green and when I went to buy it it looked awful and stalkey with loads of big bits of some weed in it. It was on sale at the range and cheaper than the hay I bought last time. If it was OK for a main hay I was going to buy a few bags of it but don't want to and then find out it's only for a treat.

I'm not sure if it's meant to be used as a treat or as a main hay, I think I would mix it with another hay if I had loads of it :)
