My 5 year guinea Moodle has been diagnosed with arthritis in her back left leg she's been put on 0.2 Metacam long term, been reading various sites heard people recommend Potters tablets but I was wondering since she used to suffer with bladder sludge would those tablets effect that? As I don't really want to put her back on her potassium citrate for that while on Metacam, she hasn't had a sludge problem for about 2 years.

Hi there. I used to use potters on my Amelia Jane but then I switched to glucosamine. She has it twice a day along with loxicom.

They sent me joint pain relief Potters which is worrying because she's on Metacam, how much of the vegan glucosamine should I give? Whole tablets?

I've been using the Potters herbal tablets which were original called Tabritis & now changed their name to Joint Pain Relief. I discussed this with my vet first & she thought it would be a much better idea than an a long term anti-inflammatory. Rhubard had bad arthritis in her back legs & has now been on these for over 3 months and they appear to be working on her. I was told to give 1/4 of a tablet a day but because it's difficult to cut the tablets into 4, I crush 2 tablets & mix the powder with 4ml of water & store this in a medicine bottle. I then give her 0.5 ml of this mixture each day & then start all over again 8 days later. She even apears to like this mixture. It's relatively cheap & at about £8 a bottle of 60 pills it gives you 8 months treatment x

The dose is 125mg a day but can go as high as 250mg a day.

So you don't give loxicom/metacam?

No, my vet didn't think that Rhubarb was in pain so didn't want to put her on long term Metacam. She is much better walking around now x
