Buttons was at the vet yet again yesterday and they charged us £16.65. The medication only came to about £6.50 so this means that they have charged us for a consultation even tho it is a return appointment. He's to got back on Friday so we will be charged for that again. Any other time we have been they haven't charged us for a return appointment. Last night the vet had to go and talk to the head vet because she wasn't sure on if it was related to pox virus so we have basically been charged more because the vet wasn't sure about something. Does anyone else have to pay for return appointments? My mum got told before you don't pay for return appointments. :-\

But they are charging the same amount for return appointments as they do for the first appointment. Mums going to phone another vet because there supposed to be better anyway.

hi ooooooooo vet bills are getting stupid, the last time i had to go was with my cat mog and the VAT on the bill made the amount really annoying!! my vets dont charge if a follow up appointment is needed. Although what has anoyed me was when i was there with my iguana and she was supposed to have had an x ray over her body on the second visit to the vets and then 4 months later she died of throat cancer with the bill finally ending at around 400 quid.! why wasnt the tumour caught in the x ray, which would have safed me the heart ache of trying to save her and the huge bill. Plus bless her if i hadnt had said enough was enough how long would the vets would have carried on, makes me wonder!
Ive changed vets now lol

The other vets charge even more.
Looks like we will just have to stick with the vet we're with even tho they charge £10 for wetting a bit of cotton wool and wiping his mouth.

thats all their doing :o thats a bit rubbish

i got really annoyed when i had to pay £70 emergency fees only to be told by the vet that she didnt know much about piggys and didnt know what the problem was >:(

Mention it to your Vets when you are in there,

They may not be aware you are a disgruntled person unless you actually tell them, and I know it is a bit daunting when you are in there with them, but they are Human and they will explain why they are charging what they charge, and can come to an arrangement regarding repeat appointments, I know my Vets are expensive, but they do know about Guinea pigs, so it is worth every penny when I have a well pig at the end of it.

Ask around your local area to see if they have a Rodentologist, and how much they charge so you will not get any shocks, then you will be prepared when the time comes to take them.

Better prepared beforehand !

Xx
