Sorry to bother you , I just received a 20kg bag as I am going to mix 50/50 with harringtons pellets , never had it before , is it dry ? Only mine feels a bit sticky / soft not wet but maybe it could be damp , I thought it would be like the dry muesli type , the pellets,in it are quite crumbly , is this normal or have I a dud bag.
I am sending a sample to allen and page for them to look at bit annoyed the supplier is getting back to me , the bag is not wet , but the contents feel like they are not dry enough.

Is the Allen and Page a horse feed? If so, then yes, it will feed slightly sticky, this is the maltodextrin - ie molasses, ie sugar :-) xx

Yes I think you are right , I didn't realise it was like this , oh dear :(
Sorry it is the guinea pig mix not horse food but I think it has molasses in it maybe by the feel of it I don't like it at all.

I googled their smallholder range (I have used Allen&Page equine feeds, and their ewe mix, but didn't realise they did piggy stuff too) and this is the ingredient list and the specifications -

Ingredients: Barley, Peas, Oats, Cereal Straw, Beans, Maize, Carrot, Wheat Syrup, Wheat Feed, Expelled Linseed, Alfalfa, Oat Fibre, Grass Meal, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Soya, Di-Calcium Phosphate, Dried Carrots, Herbs, Expelled Soya Oil, Vitamin C, Natural Vitamins.

Analysis: Protein: 12.3%, Oil: 3.0%, Fibre: 9.8%, Ash: 5.0%, Moisture: 13.8%, Vitamin A: 8000iu/Kg, Vitamin D: 2000iu/Kg, Vitamin E: 30iu/kg as tocopherol as acetate.

By the looks of the spec, it's a nice feed as long as it's not fed in vast amounts, as the main ingredient looks to be barley which is a bulker and very fattening. The wheat syrup and soya oil will give it the slightly sticky texture.
